What You’ll Do

As an Mental Health Worker, you’ll play a crucial role in supporting clients as they navigate the challenges of recovery. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting clients with daily routines and monitoring client compliance with program.
  • Providing crisis intervention and ensuring a safe, supportive environment.
  • Maintaining accurate records of client notes, progress, and incident reports.
  • Assuring appropriate records are completed in a timely manner.
  • Directly observing and recording client activity.
  • Assisting with food services delivery, clean up, and light housekeeping.
  • Promoting positive neighborhood and community relations.

You’re someone who cares deeply about helping others. You have strong communication skills and can handle high-pressure situations with professionalism and empathy.

Job Details

Job Type: Casual
Pay: $17.48 – $22.96 per hour
Expected hours: 8 – 40 per week
Additional pay: Overtime pay

Qualifications and Experience

  • Grade 12 Diploma with 1-year post-secondary training or equivalent experience.
  • Post-Secondary studies in the Human Service Field of no less than 30 credit hours or the equivalent.
  • No less than one year in a setting with adults who experience severe mental illness.
  • Consideration will be given to equivalency in education and experience.

  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Effective communication and conflict resolution abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team setting.
  • Compassionate, proactive, and resilient in high-stress situations.

Preferred but Not Required

  • CPR
  • Professional Assault Response Training (PART)
  • Mental Health First Aid
  • Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training
  • Food Safe Handling Certificate
  • WHMIS
